    3.1 Comments

  • When you leave a comment, we collect the data shown in the comment form, your IP address and browser user agent to help with spam detection.

  • An anonymised string (hash) created from your email address may be sent to the Gravatar service to check if you use it. After your comment is approved, your profile image (if any) is visible with your comment. See Gravatar’s privacy policy at automattic.com/privacy.

3.2 Media

  • If you upload images, avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Visitors can download and extract location data from images on the Site.

3.3 Cookies

  • Commenter cookies: If you leave a comment, you may opt in to saving your name, email and website in cookies for convenience. These last for one year.

  • Login test cookie: If you visit the login page, we set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. It contains no personal data and is removed when you close your browser.

  • Login cookies: When you log in, we set cookies to save your login details and screen display choices. Login cookies last two days. Screen options cookies last one year. If you select “Remember Me”, login persists for two weeks. Logging out removes the login cookies.

  • Editor cookie: If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie is saved in your browser. It stores the post ID of the article and expires after one day.
